Tianjin, October 24, 2025 — As global energy transition and industrial digitalization accelerate, China’s mining sector is entering a pivotal phase of transformation toward the upcoming “15th Five-Year Plan” (2026–2030), with a clear focus on digitalization, networking, and intelligent operations. Against this backdrop, the 27th China International Mining Conference (CIMC 2025) was successfully held at the Meijiang Convention & Exhibition Center in Tianjin under the theme “Interconnection, Integration, Co-construction, and Shared Growth.” The event spotlighted pathways for intelligent transformation across the mining value chain.

At the conference, ExxonMobil (China) Investment Co., Ltd. (“ExxonMobil China”) unveiled its Global Mine Equipment Maintenance & Reliability Insight White Paper, presenting a comprehensive suite of intelligent lubrication solutions tailored for the mining industry. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative service models, ExxonMobil aims to empower the sector’s journey toward high-quality, sustainable, and smart development.

Smart Insights: Digitalization Drives Equipment Management Evolution

With the deep integration of artificial intelligence, digital twins, and predictive analytics, intelligent equipment management has become a cornerstone of mining modernization.

Zhang Xiaohong, Founder of IntelMining and Senior Engineer, emphasized during his keynote:

“Mine intelligence is not merely about ‘replacing humans with machines,’ but about establishing a new paradigm of human-machine collaboration. In this shift, maintenance and reliability have evolved from a supporting function into a core enabler of stable, intelligent operations—essential for unlocking the true value of digital transformation.”

Li Qingsheng, Northern Regional Manager for Rock Drilling Equipment at Sunward Intelligent Equipment, shared practical insights on the company’s smart construction management platform and unmanned operation systems, engaging attendees in a dialogue on implementation strategies and future trends in intelligent mining.

In response to the urgent need for smarter asset management and enhanced safety, ExxonMobil China officially launched its white paper titled “Maximizing Operational Uptime: The Critical Path to Effective Equipment Strategy Execution” on the opening day of the conference.

The report highlights that, empowered by advances in 5G, IoT sensors, and data analytics, mining companies can adopt predictive maintenance strategies to proactively identify equipment risks—significantly reducing unplanned downtime and production disruptions. It outlines a clear roadmap for the industry to transition from reactive repairs to proactive prevention, laying the foundation for a future-ready intelligent maintenance ecosystem in Chinese mines.

Intelligent Predictive Maintenance: A Full-Lifecycle Lubrication Management System

To meet rising demands for safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency, ExxonMobil China has developed a digital-intelligent lubrication solution spanning the entire oil lifecycle. Central to this offering is the Mobil™ Smart Monitoring Solution, which enables real-time, online monitoring of lubricant condition and early detection of equipment wear trends, allowing operators to shift from breakdown maintenance to predictive care.

Integrated with Mobil™ Planned Engineering Services and eco-efficient lubricant products, this system delivers a closed-loop management framework—from lubricant selection and condition monitoring to performance evaluation—enhancing both production safety and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

ExxonMobil China also showcased its high-performance lubricant portfolio, including:

  • Mobil SHC™ 600 Series

  • Mobil DTE 10 Ultra™ Series

These advanced formulations deliver superior anti-wear and oxidation resistance, ensuring reliable operation of critical components—such as hydraulic systems and heavy-duty gears—in both underground and open-pit environments, while supporting clients’ green and intelligent transformation goals.

Collaborating for a Smarter, Greener Future

With decades of experience in China’s mining sector, ExxonMobil has forged long-term partnerships with leading enterprises, including Jiangxi Copper Group, Guangdong Dabaoshan Mining, and China Energy Investment Corporation.

Zhang Bo, Technical Director at CompAir (Shijiazhuang) Compressor Co., Ltd.—a key ExxonMobil partner—shared success stories from their collaboration at the conference:

“Our jointly developed lubrication solution, featuring advanced friction-reduction technology, has reduced mechanical wear in CompAir’s energy-efficient air compressors by 5–10%. By optimizing lubricant formulation, we’ve achieved dual gains in performance and sustainability.”

Looking ahead, ExxonMobil China reaffirmed its commitment to expanding investments in intelligent lubrication technologies and digital services, working hand-in-hand with industry stakeholders to “fuel” China’s mining transformation—toward a future that is safer, cleaner, more efficient, and truly intelligent.
